Got up early but there didn’t seem much wind, but it was NE so we set off to the estuary to check. It was about 5 or 6 knots. So we came home and talked about going off to do some hill walking as it was bright and sunny. However, we took a look at the hills behind us and they were cloudy, so we decided to stay locally.

Thus, after much indecision, we set off in the canoes.

Shem had been out in the surf with Al’s big surf board, but there wasn’t much surf, so we decided we must paddle off somewhere. We then had to decide whether to head to Aberdyfi or Borth. We chose Borth.

We had a nice paddle there and worked a bit harder coming back, doing sets and trying to improve my technique and efficiency with the paddle. The sea state had been building more and more swell as we paddled, so when we got back to Ynyslas we found a lot of surf to play with. So we spent a good 40 minutes playing in the surf, (I can’t measure surf and don’t want to get too technical; but it was big). Had a really good session with the surf canoes, doing what they do best.

We came in and went home for some lunch (we had been gone 4 hours).

After lunch we checked the cricket score, to find England had skittled out the Aussies and taken ‘Bad Light’ woo hoo :) so we decided to walk to Borth, and put a couple of quid in my pocket in case the sun would be setting on the backyard of the Victoria :)

As we got over to the front we saw Al and someone else kiting, in about 15 knots. The sea had flattened a bit, but there were still some waves. After watching for a bit we went to get our windsurfing kit. As we got our stuff ready Al came back to get his. So we followed Al to the front and started to rig up a 6.4 and a 6.0. We were just putting the boom on and were about ready when Al came back in saying that the wind had gone. :(

Never mind, it was a good day, and it has gone really still, so we are off for a walk before the sun sets.
